The SIP Controller has been designed with the purpose of overcoming common limitations when using a SIP phone to make and receive calls. It also expands the capabilities of Ringover's SIP phone configuration by providing you with the ability to manage calls on your SIP device through the webapp or desktop application.
Activating the SIP controller gives you the opportunity to:
- Access call history logs and recordings
- Change the phone number for outgoing calls
- Search for a contact's phone number
- Transfer calls to users or external numbers
- Add notes and labels to the call
- See who is calling

You must have a SIP phone connected to your account.
How to activate the SIP controller
To make the SIP Controller function appear in Ringover's user settings, you must first have configured and registered your SIP phone with Ringover. You can follow this guide for instructions.
Once your SIP phone is registered:
- Go to your Ringover settings and open the "Security and Logins" tab.
- In the "SIP Account" section, enable the SIP Phone Controller option by entering your credentials.

Search for a contact's phone number

Take advantage of your CRM's contact synchronization by searching for the contact's name directly in the dialer or contacts tab.
Transfer calls to users or external numbers
NOTE: The 'Ask first' function depends on whether the phone supports it or not. For Yealink phones, some firmware versions support it, while others do not.
The process for transferring a call with 'Ask first' is as follows:

- Press the button to transfer the call.
- Dial the customer or prospect's phone number by pressing send.
- Once the call is connected, press transfer.
