In your calls, certain expressions such as “uh”, “you know” or “du coup” do not add value to the speech: these are filler words (also called verbal tics).
By adding your own customized filler words, you allow Empower to:
- more accurately recognize these hesitations,
- provide reliable statistics on their frequency,
- better analyze your teams' communication habits.
Empower currently takes into account several languages for filler detection:
🇫🇷 French, 🇬🇧 English, 🇪🇸 Spanish, 🇮🇹 Italian, 🇵🇹 Portuguese, 🇩🇪 German, 🇳🇱 Dutch.
You can add words specific to one language, or define words applicable to all languages.
⚙️ How to add customized filler words?
Go to the Settings of Empower:
- Open the tab AI Customization > Filler Words.
- Use the input bar to enter a word or expression.
- Choose whether it should be associated with all languages or only with a specific language.
- Confirm: the word is added to the list and will now be recognized by Empower.
📋 Example of already used fillers
Here are some examples of default filler words:
- French: Euh, en fait, du coup, tu vois, ouais, effectivement, ben, voilà, genre
- English: Uh, like, actually, um, basically
- Spanish: Me entiendes, eh, me entiende, vale, o sea, pues, es que
✅ Best practices
- Only add words or expressions commonly used by your teams.
- Do not add words with strong semantic value, in order not to distort the analysis.
- Remember to enrich the list as you identify new verbal tics.
