A SIP phone allows you to make and receive calls over the internet using a physical device or software. In this guide, you’ll learn how to connect and configure your SIP device with your Ringover account.
Prerequisites
- You need a SIP phone connected to your network
- This feature requires a Ringover Business or Advanced account.
- This procedure uses the Yealink T42S as an example, but the principle is the same for all phones. To learn how to activate your SIP phone, visit our article "How to activate the SIP Controller".
Set up your Ringover account on a SIP Phone
1. Retrieve your Ringover SIP login information
Before configuring the phone, you must find your connection details in the dashboard.
- Go to your Ringover Dashboard.
- Click on Settings.
- Select Users.
- Click on the user profile.
- Go to "User settings" to access the SIP menu.
- Retrieve your 3 necessary pieces of information:
- Server (sip1-us.ringover.com)
- Username
- Password
2. Access your SIP phone interface
Find your phone's IP address to log into its settings.
- Press the OK key while the phone is inactive to obtain its IP address.
- Open your computer browser.
- Enter the IP address in the address bar (ex: http://192.168.1.10).
- Enter the username (default: admin) and password (default: admin) on the connection page.
- Click Confirm.
3. Configure the phone account
Enter the SIP login information into your phone's interface to connect the device.
- Go to Account.
- Select Register.
- Select Account 1.
- Select Enabled for the Active line.
- Enter the Host server, Registration name, Username, and Password retrieved in Step 1.

Here is what some of the terms on your phone's interface mean:
- Registry Status: displays the registry status of the current account.
- Active line: you must select Enabled to activate the account.
- Label: displayed on the LCD screen to identify the account.
- Display name: displayed as the caller ID when you make a call.
- Registration name: username (see step 2)
- Username: username (see step 2)
- Password: password (see step 2)
- Host server: server (see step 2)
