How to personalize prompts for your AIRO Agent

Designing the prompt for your AIRO agent is a critical step in building your AI assistant. The prompt system serves as the brain of your agent, defining its exact behavior during a call, including what tasks it should perform, how it should speak, and when it needs to transfer the caller.

Setting up your prompt

1. Greeting message 

  1. To begin, you can choose whether or not to activate an initial greeting message. 
     

You have the flexibility to write this message from scratch, or you can modify an existing one if you started via a template or guided creation.

  1. To ensure your agent sounds natural and personalized, you should use dynamic variables. 

You can insert variables such as caller ID, call duration, UTC time, Date and time, and timezone directly into the prompt. If you do not use these variables, your agent will simply repeat the exact same static message on every call.

2. Prompt System

The platform gives you plenty of room to build out detailed instructions. 

  • You can click the expansion icon to open a full-page view, which allows you to type up to 10,000 characters per section.
     

  • If you get stuck or want to improve your wording, you can use the "enhance with AI" button to automatically refine your prompts. Keep in mind that you do not have to fill in every single box; you only need to complete the sections that are essential for your specific needs.

The prompt system is broken down into specific themes to help you structure your agent's identity and purpose:

  1. Personality: Use this section to define the character and personality traits of your assistant.
     

  2. Environment: Describe the context and the work environment so the agent understands its setting.
     

  3. Objective: Specify the primary goals your assistant needs to achieve during the call.

Next, you will dictate exactly how the agent interacts with the caller:

  1. Tone and Communication: Define the specific communication style and tone the agent must adopt.
     
  2. Mandatory Questions: List the absolute must-ask questions for your clients. These should be adapted to the specific service you offer and will be asked by the agent during every call.
     
  3. Rules to Follow: List any important rules or strict limitations the agent must obey

Finally, outline the boundaries and technical capabilities of your agent:

  1. Available Tools: Define the tools, APIs, or external resources that the agent is allowed to access and use during the conversation.
     

  2. Custom Section: If your use case requires highly specific instructions that don't fit into the other categories, you can add them here.
