Connecting email to SMTP/IMAP in Cadence:
Prerequisites:
- You need to enable SMTP/IMAP access in your email settings.
- Your inbound and outbound email credentials must be correct; you can receive these from your email service provider.
About: Cadence allows you to use your personal email for sending and receiving mail. By doing so, you will be using your personal email server completely, which means your server processes all inbound and outbound mail.
SMTP: Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) provides the ability to send messages.
IMAP: Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) provides the ability to receive emails and store the messages on the mail server.
Steps to configure SMTP/IMAP:
These are the steps to configure SMTP/IMAP:
Step 1: Log in to your Cadence account and go to My Connection under the Settings page.
Step 2: In the email section, click on Configure SMTP/IMAP.
Step 3: Following that, the email set-up modal will show up, requiring you to fill in the necessary details. After that, you will be connected
Notes:
For both inbound and outbound, the values must be correct; you can receive these from your email service provider.

Note: (For most of the mail servers, you can use your email as a username)
- Password:
Note: (You can utilize the mail server to generate app passwords, which you can use in place of your personal password.)
- SMTP Information (Outbound emails)
- SMTP host name
- SMTP port
- IMAP information (Inbound emails)
- IMAP host name
- IMAP port
Note: If any of these values are incorrect, it will prevent your email from being correctly set up.
SMTP/IMAP activity logging:
SMTP/IMAP performs all the mail-related tasks in cadence, and the activity is also created on the task page.
The tasks that can be performed by SMTP/IMAP are:
Automated mail: Using SMTP/IMAP you can send and receive automated emails.
Semi-automated mail: Using SMTP/IMAP you can send and receive Semi-automated emails.
Reply to: You can view the reply you receive for any email sent using SMTP or IMAP.
