One-Way Texts (SMS Notifications) allow you to send outbound text messages to your customers and prospects directly from your Ringover apps without needing a dedicated mobile phone line (eg. to send an appointment reminder, not for marketing purpose). In this guide, you’ll learn how to send one-way SMS messages from the web and desktop applications, manage your brand sender name, and trigger automated texts within your IVR call flows.

Send One-Way SMS Notifications 

1. Send a One-Way Text 

Draft and send outbound-only messages using either the Ringover Webapp or the Desktop Application.

1. Log in to your Ringover Webapp.
2. Click on the Messages icon at the top of your page.
3. Click on the One-Way Texts tab.
4. Select + New to start a new message.
5. Choose your desired Sender Name (your approved brand name 🔗 How to create a brand name for your SMS campaigns).
6. Add your recipient's phone number.
7. Type your message in the composer field.
8. Click Send.

One-Way SMS messages are limited to a maximum of 8 segments. Messages exceeding this character limit will be automatically shortened to ensure successful carrier delivery.

2. Integrate One-Way Texts into your IVR

Configure your phone system to automatically send a confirmation or informational text to callers during specific stages of your voice menu.

1. Go to your IVR's page.
2. Open the call flow standard you wish to edit (or click to create a new one).
3. Add a new step and select the Send SMS option.
4. Choose your preferred Sender brand name.
5. Fill in your SMS text content (e.g., sending a link to your help center or address details).
6. Save your voice standard changes.
