Here are common issues that users encounter when trying to complete Facebook business verification for using WhatsApp and Ringover.
Common Issues and Their Meaning
Issue | Interpretation |
Facebook suggests using phone verification instead of email | This happens when Facebook cannot confirm that the business owns the email domain and that the person requesting verification works there. However, they can confirm ownership of the phone number, so please try receiving a code on your phone. |
The business phone number doesn’t match the verified one | The phone number used for verification doesn’t match the one in the business details or documents. Note that this is separate from the WhatsApp number. |
Website content doesn’t match the business | Facebook cannot confirm that the business owns the website (used for email verification) as it does not display the business’s legal name. |
Business and email domain don’t match | Facebook needs documents proving that the business owns the email domain, such as a purchase or ownership record. |
Legal name and address: invalid or mismatched documents | A submitted document is insufficient for address verification, possibly due to lacking a legal name or mismatching with the Business Manager address. |
Solutions for Verification Issues
Not Receiving the Email Code
In the final verification step, you’ll need to confirm a 6-digit code sent by Facebook.
Make sure to provide a professional business email (no Gmail, etc.) to receive the code. If it doesn’t arrive, check with your IT team as firewalls may be blocking emails from Facebook.
Pop-Up Says “You Are Verified,” But Business Manager Shows “Not Verified”
This pop-up message can be misleading. Go to Business Manager settings under Business Information, where you’ll likely see a “Continue Request” message. Review each step to see where additional information is still required.
“Start Verification” Button Is Grayed Out
If the “Start Verification” button is unclickable, it’s likely because Business Manager verification is only required when the business has assigned “assets.” When we create a WABA (WhatsApp Business Account) for you, it counts as an “asset,” which activates the “Start Verification” button after you accept the Jewel notification.
